Lake Cuyamaca is undoubtedly the most popular attraction in San Diego's backcountry. This picturesque lake offers various lake based activities and features a lake view restaurant & pub. The lake is one of the oldest dams in California. It is stocked with over 38,000 lbs. of trout annually & is the only San Diego lake that is able to stock trout all year long. Other species of fish include Florida bass, smallmouth bass, channel catfish, crappie, bluegill and sturgeon.

There are two nesting bald eagles that call this lake home and are the only known pair of nesting bald eagles in Southern California.

Just around the corner is the Stone wall mine ruin, as well as Stonewall Peak - one of the most popular hikes in the backcountry. Paso Picasho State Park is another beautiful attraction less than a mile away.

This small body of water is an extremely unique and bio-diverse habitat. You can spend the day on a boat soaking up the sun, or fishing from shore. The Lake also offers beautiful hiking to Fletcher Island. Entrance fee is $10 per vehicle. If you're staying at our site in Laguna Campground, the drive to Lake Cuyamaca takes about 20 minutes.

Lake Cuyamaca, Cleveland National Forest and the Rancho Cuyamaca state park all border each other and you'll be in relatively close proximity to all 3 locations from our glamping site.
